This event is a road race and will block cross-traffic on all cross streets (including pedestrians)
except where a bridge or tunnel exists over or under the road.
The route of the Sporting Life 10K has been changed in 2019. The start line has been moved south to Davisville Avenue and this event no longer closes Yonge Street north of Eglinton Avenue but there will be additional road closures on Richmond Street, Jarvis Street, Adelaide Street and York St. Road closures for Sporting Life 10K Sunday, May 12, 2019 include Yonge Street from Eglinton Avenue to Richmond Street in both directions and sections of Richmond Street, Adelaide Street, Jarvis Street, York Street, Peter Street/Blue Jays Way, Front Street West, Bathurst Street, Fort York Boulevard and Fleet Street. Yonge Street will be closed from Eglinton Avenue to Davisville Avenue from 4:30am to 10:30am and south of Davisville Avenue from 7am to 11am. One car lane and the bike lane will remain open on Adelaide Street and Richmond Street East from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street for local traffic/cyclists. This event starts at 7:30am and will use a wave start system where there are brief gaps between each of 7 groups of several thousand runners each, but this event will still make it very difficult to cross the street. Use pedestrian tunnels at Bloor Street, through subway stations at College, Dundas and Queen, PATH tunnels, or the Beltline Trail bridge at Davisville to cross the 10K route. Expect detours or severe delays on almost all Toronto Transit Commission streetcar routes (501 Queen, 504 King, 505 Dundas, 506 Carlton, 510 Spadina, 511 Bathurst, 512 St Clair) and TTC bus routes 6 Bay, 11 Bayview, 14 Glencairn, 28 Bayview South, 94 Wellesley, 97 Yonge, 121 Fort York-Esplanade, 300 Bloor-Danforth Blue Night, 307 Bathurst, and 320 Yonge Blue Night. Before the subway opens at 8am, the 320 Yonge Blue Night bus will run via Mount Pleasant Road and Jarvis Street. Information for participants: The start line is located on Yonge Street at Davisville Avenue. Since the event starts at 7:30am while the subway starts running at 8am, it is not possible to take the subway to the start line. Please take the 320 Yonge night bus; keep in mind that the night bus will be detouring via Mount Pleasant Road and leave extra time. Please be advised that parking is very limited in this area. During this event, no subway Line 1 St Clair West to Union Sunday, May 12, 2019. (This subway closure ended early at 12pm May 12 due to work being completed early.) This event will interfere with shutle bus service on University Avenue. Shuttle buses will likely not operate south of Queen Street West during this event. Please use the east side of Line 1 as an alternative.
